As you go through this program, you'll explore 2000 years of history that you can see and touch in our castles, museums and heritage cities, to glorious countryside that has inspired writers and artists for centuries.

You'll discover that 2016 is a great time to visit England. It’s the 150th anniversary of Beatrix Potter, the famous children’s author who lived and worked in the north's Lake District all her life; and, the year of the English Garden celebrating the work of Capability Brown, internationally renowned landscaper, born in Northumberland and whose influence can be seen throughout the region.

You'll get to know the great northern cities of Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds and Liverpool and all they have to offer today's global traveler. You'll learn about festivals, world-class exhibitions and food and drink to satisfy every taste. With 5 world heritage sites, 5 national parks and multiple areas of natural beauty, there is so much for the culture lover, active adventurer and outdoor enthusiast alike.
